Punjabi romantic drama Ishqan De Lekhe, led by Gurnam Bhullar, is showing a strong performance at the box office after witnessing a significant jump during its second weekend. The film has gained momentum with steady collections and is now moving closer to becoming a hit.
Strong Growth in Second Weekend
The film performed impressively in its second weekend, earning around ₹4 crore gross (approximately ₹3.35 crore nett) in India. This marks an increase of nearly 85 percent compared to its opening weekend collections.
Thanks to this surge, the film’s total earnings after ten days of release have reached around ₹9 crore gross (about ₹7.60 crore nett) at the Indian box office.
Overseas Collections Push Worldwide Total
Apart from its domestic performance, Ishqan De Lekhe has also collected decent numbers overseas. The film has earned approximately USD 525K, which is close to ₹4.85 crore.
With these numbers combined, the film’s worldwide box office total now stands just under ₹15 crore.
Interestingly, the film is performing better in India than in overseas markets, which is quite unusual for Punjabi films. In recent years, international territories have often contributed more revenue than domestic markets.
Film Performing Well Outside Punjab
Another interesting trend is the film’s performance outside Punjab. While Punjabi films traditionally depend heavily on collections within the state, Ishqan De Lekhe is seeing strong response in regions such as Haryana.
Cities in Delhi and Rajasthan are also contributing to the film’s steady run at the box office. Industry experts believe that the romantic genre has helped the film attract audiences beyond the core Punjabi market.
Competition From Dhurandhar: The Revenge
Despite its positive momentum, the film is expected to face strong competition from the upcoming release Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The new release could take up a significant number of screens, which might affect the film’s box office run.
However, if Ishqan De Lekhe manages to retain a reasonable number of shows during its third week, it still has the potential to cross the ₹15 crore mark globally.
On Track to Become a Hit
Considering its current trend and steady audience response, the film is on course to emerge as a hit at the box office. The success of Ishqan De Lekhe could bring much-needed momentum to the Punjabi film industry, which had a relatively challenging year previously.
With several promising Punjabi releases scheduled for the coming months, the film’s performance may help boost confidence in the market and set the stage for a stronger year ahead.
