The box office clash between Ranveer Singh and Allu Arjun has turned into one of the biggest talking points in Indian cinema. While Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge has delivered a historic opening, it still couldn’t surpass three massive records held by Pushpa 2: The Rule.
With a staggering ₹145 crore net collection on day one in India, Dhurandhar 2 has rewritten Bollywood history. It became the first Hindi film to cross ₹100 crore in a single day and shattered over 20 records. Yet, despite this phenomenal start, a few key milestones remain untouched.
Ranveer Singh vs Allu Arjun: A Battle of Titans
Ranveer Singh has successfully dethroned Allu Arjun in one major segment by delivering the biggest Hindi opening ever. Dhurandhar 2 surpassed the Hindi net collection of Pushpa 2, which stood at ₹72 crore.
However, the spy thriller directed by Aditya Dhar couldn’t dominate across all fronts. The larger pan-India and global appeal of Pushpa 2 continues to hold strong in certain key areas.
Worldwide Opening: Pushpa 2 Still Rules
While Dhurandhar 2 dominated the domestic box office, it fell short on the global stage.
Pushpa 2 registered an extraordinary worldwide opening of over ₹275 crore, setting a benchmark that remains unbeaten. In comparison, Dhurandhar 2 managed an impressive but lower ₹222.5 crore globally.
This gap highlights the massive international pull that Allu Arjun’s film continues to enjoy.
BookMyShow Ticket Sales: Unmatched Craze for Pushpa 2
The craze for Pushpa 2 was clearly visible in advance bookings and ticket sales. On day one (including pre-sales), Dhurandhar 2 sold around 4.05 million tickets on BookMyShow.
However, Pushpa 2 stayed ahead with a massive 4.76 million tickets sold, proving its unmatched hype among audiences.
North America Box Office: Missed Entry into Top 5
One of the biggest setbacks for Dhurandhar 2 came from the North American market. Despite a wide release, the film failed to enter the Top 5 Indian openers in the region.
It collected approximately $3.95 million (including premieres), narrowly missing the fifth position.
Top 5 Indian Openers in North America
- Kalki 2898 AD – $5.56 million
- RRR – $5.5 million
- Baahubali 2: The Conclusion – $4.6 million
- Pushpa 2 – $4.47 million
- Coolie – $3.97 million
Final Verdict
Dhurandhar 2 has undoubtedly delivered one of the biggest openings in Indian cinema history and marked a new era for Bollywood. Ranveer Singh’s explosive start and record-breaking spree have set new benchmarks domestically.
However, Pushpa 2 continues to dominate in terms of global reach, ticket sales frenzy, and international box office performance. The battle clearly shows that while Bollywood is catching up fast, pan-India blockbusters still hold a strong edge worldwide.
