Ranveer Singh - Dhurandhar 2
The countdown has begun for Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, and the excitement surrounding Ranveer Singh’s spy thriller is reaching historic levels. With massive advance bookings and unprecedented buzz, the film is now being projected as one of the biggest openers in Indian cinema history.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film is already being compared with blockbusters like Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and Pushpa 2: The Rule in terms of hype and pre-release momentum.
The advance booking numbers for Dhurandhar 2 have been nothing short of phenomenal. Paid previews alone have crossed over 8 lakh ticket sales, generating around ₹36 crore even before release. This marks a new benchmark for Indian cinema.
Within just two days of opening bookings, Day 1 advance sales in India are already nearing ₹25 crore. Internationally, the film has created history by becoming the first Indian movie to cross $5 million in pre-sales in North America.
Overall, the film’s global advance booking collections for the opening weekend have already crossed ₹130 crore, and that too with time still left before release.
Trade experts believe that the strong paid previews will significantly boost the opening day collections. With premiere earnings expected to touch ₹40 crore, the film’s total Day 1 collection (including previews) could easily cross ₹100 crore in India.
This would allow the film to surpass opening day figures of Pathaan (₹57 crore) and Animal (₹63 crore), setting a new record for Hindi cinema.
Globally, the film is expected to perform even bigger. Despite not releasing in Gulf countries and Pakistan, Dhurandhar 2 is still projected to earn over ₹200 crore worldwide on its opening day.
If achieved, it would join the elite club of films like RRR and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion that crossed the ₹200 crore mark on Day 1.
The biggest Bollywood opening record currently belongs to Jawan with ₹129 crore worldwide. However, Dhurandhar 2 is almost certain to surpass that figure comfortably.
While Pushpa 2: The Rule’s massive ₹274 crore opening day may remain out of reach, the records of RRR (₹223 crore) and Baahubali 2 (₹214 crore) are clearly under threat.
This puts the film in a strong position to rewrite multiple box office records right from day one.
The real test for any big film lies beyond the opening day, and Dhurandhar 2 seems well-prepared on that front as well. With a long extended weekend and strong word of mouth expected, the film could witness massive growth.
Early estimates suggest that the film can collect over ₹300 crore in India within its extended four-day weekend. Globally, the weekend total is expected to cross ₹500 crore, with optimistic projections even going beyond ₹550 crore.
Apart from Ranveer Singh, the film features an ensemble cast including R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. Akshaye Khanna is also expected to make a cameo appearance.
The film is slated for release on March 19 and serves as a sequel to the blockbuster Dhurandhar, which reportedly earned ₹1300 crore worldwide and continues to enjoy a strong theatrical run.
With sky-high expectations, record-breaking advance bookings, and massive global buzz, Dhurandhar 2 is all set to redefine box office history for Bollywood.
