MUMBAI — The juggernaut that is Dhurandhar 2 continues its historic run at the Indian box office, proving that even after three weeks of theatrical dominance, the audience’s appetite for the franchise remains insatiable. As the film enters its 20th day, advance booking trends indicate a significant upward trajectory, bolstered by strategic pricing and an expanded screen presence across the country.
Surging Pre-Sales and Strategic Price Corrections
Following a standard dip during the third Monday, Dhurandhar 2 has bounced back with remarkable resilience. On its 20th day (third Tuesday), the film has recorded a 10.24% growth in ticket sales compared to the previous day. Data reveals that 1.83 lakh tickets have already been booked in advance, up from the 1.66 lakh tickets sold for Day 19.
This resurgence is largely attributed to a strategic reduction in ticket costs. With the average ticket price now hovering around 295 rupees, the film has become more accessible to “wait-and-watch” audiences who were previously deterred by premium opening-week rates. To accommodate this renewed demand, exhibitors have added 200 additional shows, bringing the nationwide daily show count to a massive 12,700.
In terms of raw figures, the advance booking for Day 20 has amassed 5.54 crore gross (excluding blocked seats). When translated to net earnings, the pre-sale figure stands at 4.7 crore, marking a nearly 10% rise from Day 19’s 4.28 crore.
The Road to the 4th Biggest Third Tuesday
Early projections suggest that Dhurandhar 2 is well-positioned to collect approximately 11.25 crore net on its 20th day. The Hindi circuit continues to be the primary engine of growth, expected to contribute a staggering 10.5 crore to the daily total.
If these projections hold, Dhurandhar 2 will etch its name in the record books by securing the fourth-highest third Tuesday in Indian cinematic history. It currently trails only its predecessor Dhurandhar (20.4 crore), Pushpa 2 (15 crore), and the legendary Baahubali 2 (13 crore).
Analyzing the “Sequel Dynamics”
While the film has already shattered records by entering the elite 1000-crore club and surpassing the lifetime collections of Baahubali 2, trade analysts note a shift in performance patterns compared to the first installment.
The original Dhurandhar was characterized by “long legs,” fueled by slow-burn word-of-mouth that saw it grow exponentially over several weeks. In contrast, Dhurandhar 2 has been “front-loaded”—attracting massive crowds in its opening days due to immense hype. While this has resulted in higher overall totals, the third-week collections naturally trail the first part as a significant portion of the core audience has already experienced the film.
Despite these nuances, the film’s ability to maintain double-digit daily earnings on a weekday in its third week is a testament to its cultural impact. With no major competition in sight, Dhurandhar 2 is expected to maintain its “mad ride” well into the next weekend.
