Ranveer Singh - Dhurandhar 2
The much-awaited action thriller Dhurandhar 2 The Revenge faced a major setback as dhurandhar 2 shows cancelled news spread rapidly across South India. Paid premiere shows scheduled for March 18 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam were abruptly called off due to technical issues.
This unexpected disruption left fans disappointed, especially after strong advance bookings and massive buzz around the film’s release.
The primary reason behind dhurandhar 2 cancelled premieres was a delay in the delivery of digital content and the Key Delivery Message (KDM) from the production house.
Without the required digital files and encryption keys, theaters were unable to screen the regional versions. Reports confirm that the issue affected all dubbed versions simultaneously, indicating a post-production pipeline failure rather than isolated incidents.
In Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the situation escalated quickly. Multiplexes in cities like Hyderabad, Vizag, and Vijayawada initially waited for content delivery until evening, but the delay forced complete cancellations.
To manage crowds and avoid chaos:
This region saw one of the biggest impacts due to high demand and record-breaking bookings.
The dhurandhar 2 shows cancelled issue extended to Karnataka and Kerala as well.
In Bengaluru and other cities, the Kannada version could not be screened due to delayed digital master uploads. Similarly, in Kerala, Malayalam premiere shows in Kochi and Trivandrum were cancelled just before showtime.
Industry insiders revealed that while the Hindi version was ready, regional versions failed to integrate into digital cinema systems on time.
Tamil Nadu theaters were also affected, with leading exhibitors issuing apologies to audiences.
As a temporary fix, many cinemas offered Hindi screenings with subtitles instead of cancelling all shows entirely.
The dhurandhar 2 cancelled premieres have resulted in a significant loss of preview revenue in South India. The region had shown strong interest in the sequel, making this disruption a major blow to opening collections.
However, production teams have assured that all issues related to KDM and digital content delivery are being resolved on priority.
The focus now shifts to the official wide release on March 19. Producers are working to ensure a smooth rollout across all languages.
