Ranveer Singh - Dhurandhar 2
Dhurandhar: The Revenge starring Ranveer Singh has created history at the global box office by collecting approximately Rs. 186 crore on its opening day worldwide. Out of this, Rs. 137 crore came from India (Rs. 114 crore nett), while the overseas markets contributed around Rs. 49 crore (USD 5.30 million).
The film’s total also includes Rs. 65 crore from previews, with Rs. 47 crore coming from India and Rs. 18 crore from overseas markets. With these numbers, the film has emerged as the biggest Bollywood opener ever, surpassing the previous record of Rs. 127 crore held by Jawan.
Dhurandhar The Revenge has become the fourth Bollywood film and the sixteenth Indian film overall to cross the Rs. 100 crore mark on its opening day worldwide. This milestone further cements its position as a historic release in Hindi cinema.
Despite its massive opening, the film narrowly missed the Rs. 200 crore mark. Several factors contributed to this, including last-minute cancellations of the South-dubbed version, which reportedly had around Rs. 5 crore in advance bookings.
The film also faced show cancellations in India and the United States during preview screenings. These disruptions reportedly resulted in a loss of around USD 250K.
Additionally, the absence of a Middle East release significantly impacted the overall numbers. A release in that region could have added at least another USD 1 million to the film’s opening day total. Had these issues not occurred, Dhurandhar The Revenge could have comfortably crossed the Rs. 200 crore benchmark.
Although Dhurandhar ranks as the fourth biggest opener in Indian cinema, comparisons across industries can be misleading. Films from different industries, especially Telugu and Hindi, follow different release patterns.
For instance, many South Indian films include extended preview shows and overseas premieres that span multiple days, making their “opening day” figures structurally different. While Dhurandhar also benefited from previews, such comparisons should still be viewed with caution.
Here is the list of films that have crossed Rs. 100 crore worldwide on opening day:
