Hoppers - Disney Movie
The Hollywood animated film Hoppers has completed its first week in Indian cinemas with a modest box office performance. According to a report by Pinkvilla, the film has collected approximately ₹3.75 crore gross in India during its opening week.
Released on February 6, the animated feature started slowly at the box office but showed some improvement over the weekend before experiencing a significant drop during weekdays.
The film opened with ₹45 lakh on its first day, followed by a strong jump on the second day as it collected ₹1.20 crore. On the third day, the film maintained momentum with ₹1.10 crore.
This took the opening weekend total to around ₹2.75 crore gross at the Indian box office.
Despite the initial weekend growth, the film struggled to maintain momentum once the weekdays began.
According to Pinkvilla, the film witnessed a sharp drop in collections from Monday to Thursday. During this period, Hoppers managed to add only about ₹1 crore to its total.
As a result, the film wrapped up its first week with an estimated ₹3.75 crore gross collection in India.
Trade analysts note that while the numbers are relatively low, they are still considered reasonable for a non-franchise animated film.
The animated feature is produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released under Walt Disney Pictures. The film is directed by Daniel Chong, known for his work in animated storytelling.
Despite the slow start, the film could see some improvement in its second week if it manages to attract family audiences.
However, the coming days may prove challenging for Hoppers at the Indian box office. The film is expected to face strong competition from Dhurandhar: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, which is set to release soon.
Industry observers believe that the wave of this big-budget Bollywood release could push several holdover films out of theatres.
Before the new releases dominate screens, Hoppers is expected to reach around ₹6–7 crore gross in India. Its final lifetime collection could potentially land somewhere around ₹9–10 crore if it manages to sustain a steady run.
The story of Hoppers revolves around Mabel Tanaka, an animal lover who discovers a technology that allows scientists to transfer human consciousness into robotic animals. Curious about the possibilities, she uses the technology to learn more about animals, but eventually realizes the consequences of her actions.
The film features an impressive voice cast including Dave Franco, Meryl Streep, Jon Hamm, Bobby Moynihan, Vanessa Bayer, Kathy Najimy, Sam Richardson, Aparna Nancherla, and director Daniel Chong himself.
