Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has given fans an exciting update about the much-awaited comedy sequel Golmaal 5. On March 14, the director celebrated his birthday by sharing a behind-the-scenes making video from the film’s set, offering a glimpse into the production and revealing some surprising casting details.
The video quickly caught the attention of fans of the popular Golmaal series, which has remained one of Bollywood’s most successful comedy franchises.
One of the biggest highlights of the video is the return of Sharman Joshi as Laxman Sharma. The actor played the character in the first installment Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, which launched the long-running franchise.
His comeback marks a return to the Golmaal series after nearly two decades, bringing back nostalgia for fans who remember the original film. The character of Laxman has since been portrayed by different actors in later installments, making Joshi’s return a major talking point among fans.
The making video also features a brief appearance by Akshay Kumar, who is seen sporting a bald look. The moment becomes even more interesting when Ajay Devgn jokingly remarks in the clip that Kumar never leaves any film franchise.
According to reports, Akshay Kumar may play the antagonist in Golmaal 5, which would be an unusual twist for the comedy franchise known for its light-hearted storytelling.
While sharing the video, Rohit Shetty also reflected on the journey of the Golmaal franchise. In his message, the filmmaker recalled how the first film changed his life and credited the audience for supporting the series over the past two decades.
He also mentioned that he and his team are beginning a new journey with the fifth installment and promised to deliver another entertaining film for audiences.
The announcement generated a lot of excitement on social media. Actor Ranveer Singh reacted enthusiastically to the post and commented “MAZZEDAAAAAAAR,” reflecting the excitement surrounding the project.
With filming now underway and major surprises already revealed, anticipation for Golmaal 5 is steadily growing. The film is expected to bring back the franchise’s trademark slapstick humor, ensemble cast, and over-the-top comedy, continuing the legacy of one of Bollywood’s most loved comedy series.
