The big-screen adaptation of Wuthering Heights is continuing its steady performance at the worldwide box office weeks after its theatrical debut. Directed by Emerald Fennell, the romantic drama has maintained strong momentum despite new releases dominating theaters.
While films like Hoppers and Scream 7 currently lead the North American box office, Wuthering Heights has continued to attract audiences with its intense romantic storyline.
The film opened strongly with $32.8 million across 3,682 screens in North America. In the following weeks, it added steady collections during subsequent weekends, gradually pushing its domestic total to around $80.3 million.
While the film has performed well in North America, its real strength has come from international markets. Overseas territories have contributed significantly to the film’s success, generating $139.9 million so far.
With this strong global performance, the film’s worldwide total has reached $220.2 million. According to yearly charts from Box Office Mojo, the movie currently stands as the second-highest-grossing release of 2026, behind the Chinese sports comedy Pegasus 3.
Industry observers are now watching closely to see whether the film can cross the $250 million milestone during its theatrical run.
As its global earnings continue to climb, Wuthering Heights has already surpassed the worldwide total of Jack Reacher, which was directed by Christopher McQuarrie and starred Tom Cruise.
The romantic drama has also reached the same global total as another Tom Cruise action thriller — Collateral, directed by Michael Mann.
Wuthering Heights – Box Office Summary
North America: $80.3 million
International: $139.9 million
Worldwide: $220.2 million
Collateral – Box Office Summary
North America: $101 million
International: $119.2 million
Worldwide: $220.2 million
Although the global totals of the two films are currently equal, their market performance shows different trends.
In North America, Collateral still holds a clear advantage with $101 million, which is nearly $21 million higher than the domestic earnings of Wuthering Heights.
However, the newer film has been far stronger internationally, outperforming the Michael Mann thriller overseas by roughly $20 million so far.
Given that the film is still running in theaters worldwide, analysts believe it is only a matter of time before Wuthering Heights moves ahead of Collateral in total global earnings.
Based on Emily Brontë’s legendary novel, the film tells the story of Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, played by Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie.
Their intense yet troubled love story is shaped by jealousy, pride, and social barriers. As their relationship spirals into emotional turmoil, it affects not only their own lives but also everyone around them, creating a powerful narrative of passion, obsession, and heartbreak.
With its strong international performance and ongoing theatrical run, Wuthering Heights is expected to continue climbing the global box office charts in the coming weeks.
